I just read on The Writer's Almanac that today in 1935 Congress passed the Works Progress Administration to get the economy going during the Great Depression.
This was the last sentence of the Writer's Almanac entry: It included the Federal Writers' Project, which gave jobs to writers such as Nelson Algren, Saul Bellow, John Cheever, Ralph Ellison, Zora Neale Hurston, Margaret Walker, and Richard Wright.
Wouldn't it be cool if there were a Federal Blogger's Project? I wonder if bloggers would have to write propaganda, though... it would be like the Fox News Federal Writers' Project.

I'd write propaganda. But then again, I don't have the highest standards for paid work.
